What is your favorite classic movie?
#1

I have been buying classic movie restorations on Blu-Ray.

I just watched Howard Hughes' "Hells Angels" - Fritz Lang's "Metropolis" and H.G. wells' "Things To Come"

The first two were pretty good, the third not as much.

Gotta go with Casablanca, but a close second for the zany His Girl Friday. Wait, that's two movies and the topic only asked for one. Have to see if this post gets deleted...

Definition of "Classic" could vary quite a bit. Just black and white ones, or any and all ever made to date from blockbusters to cult favorites, to obscure indie films, and anything in between ?

Either way no chance for me to pick a single all time favorite movie - many tied for the first spot, all in different genres.

Classics are varied...I was picking pretty old ones that I had never seen. If i had to have an all time favorite, it might very well be Blade Runner. The movie has really held up well over the years. (God I'm getting old). So many great movies out there.

I have never seen Casablanca. I own it, just have not gotten around to watching it. African Queen was pretty good. Bad Day at Black Rock was a pretty good one.

Man.... "Hud", "Giant", "5th Element", "Aliens", the list goes on.

I am thinking of "Nosferatu" next as I have never seen it.

How is it a fav classic if you haven't seen it? Or is your opinion someone else's ? Lol

I did not express an opinion on Casablanca. I only said I had it. All the others I have mentioned, except Nasferatu, I have seen or own.

The first three I mentioned, I have just bought and watched this month.

Cannot think of a single one of the black and white variety I would place among my favorites list.. And as tough as it is to mix genres and come up with a single favorite I'm going to still give it a shot : The Godfather. The Usual Suspects was pretty awesome though.. Favorite sic-fi : Blade Runner ( without even a close second place ). Jurassic Park could have come in second but everyone knows that's not sci-fi, it's real .. :-) Comedy : Young Frankenstein . Romantic movie and also a guilty admission : Valley Girl ( Nicholas Cage and Deborah Foreman ) . And still the best soundtrack of any movie I've seen.

The Godfather Trilogy totally rocks. True. I watch it every time it's on. Same thing with any of the Rocky Movies. I get stuck watching them even though I own them all.

I'm confused on what a "Classic" really is...My Dad used to watch a lot of the old Westerns and stuff, but I don't consider those classics, just old...

Classics: Tora, Tora, Tora; Midway; Dr Strangelove, or How I Stopped Worrying and Learned to Love the Bomb... Or totally different Aliens, Spaceballs, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Road Warrior, Animal House... Cult Classics: Rocky Horror Picture Show

Yup - A classic movie is different for everyone, but there are a few that resonate with most folks.

Good choices!
