Cool morning, 53 degrees, air is crisp and clear. Opened the door, slid in and closed the door and heard a nice solid sound that you don't get in American cars anymore. Sat down in my 12-way power lumbar leather seats. It was a little chilly inside. Cranked her over, vroooom, came right to life, purred like a kitten! Well, a tiger kitten maybe!
By the time I started backing out the driveway, it was already nice and warm in the cabin. Slipped her in gear, nice quiet smooth engagement. She felt a little 'tight', as it was 30 degrees cooler outside than normal. But she still was purring like a tiger!
I get about a block from the house, and a smile starts coming across my face as I imagine Ferdinand designing and building his 'dream' car, and all the heritage that was passed down into the 968, what an awesome example of the front engined water cooled Porsches.
As I eased into some tight twisties, she hugged the road and kept saying, "more please, give me more, faster." So I did what a car...
epilogue: There's a lot of cars out there that can do "this" or "that" a little faster or better, but to me, this car is the most awesome combination of handling, ride feel, good looks, acceleration and just plain fun!
"Porsche, nothing else even comes close!"

Well said Michael, I couldn't agree more. It's the complete package that makes these cars so great - the combination of performance, handling, reliability, engineering, aesthetics and heritage. I pal around with a few guys in the neighbourhood who own a real mix of different cars. In the group is a '93 TVR Griffith 4.5l (1 of 5 in North America - very rare), '89 Ferrari Mondial T cab (sexy), '79 Maserati Merak SS (a true exotic - even sexier), '91 300ZX tt (a nice safe bet), and a '94 Corvette (not sure why??). I've driven them all and the only one I'd ever consider owning is the TVR. Its quite fast and very nimble - 300hp pushing 2100lbs will do that! While my 968 isn't the most flambouyant, it is routinely acknowledged by the group as the best all-round sports car of the bunch. This point is made every month in the back pages of EVO, where they refer to the 968 as "one of the all-time greats". Ownership is a wonderful thing!

Silver Bullet,
Your narrative was too short...but it was good.

Harvey - yeah, I'm working on my writing skills!
That pic looks like a flashback from my old 951!
