try jc whitney - the material is a standard gasket, and sold by length - no need to pay the porsche prices

Thanks, Flash, for a great source. Will check with them. I'm new to the forum, see that you're everywhere on this forum with great advice. And love your car and the photo of it.

Thanks, Mark! Thought I my searching on eBay this week found everything, but I guess not! Good info, will compare pricing to Flash's JC Whitney suggestion.

Unless you are set to search the UK or other parts of the world there is a lot on eBay you'll never see, not that is a bad thing. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> By the way nice color combo you have there, where in Annapolis are you?

Happy, I've been working on a source for this for a while, but other matters have kind of slowed me down. I will try to get back to it next week if possible. If you want to do a Goggle, they are referred to as "trim seals."

FYI, J C Whitney does not have a good match.

really? i find that hard to believe - they seem to have everything

well, it's a pretty standard upholstery item - i know a duplicate is made in canada - i have it on my car now - sold by the foot - sounds like i need to go back to the body shop that sold it to me to find out where they got it

I think #1618 looks very close.

Happy, if you think this is OK, and Fairchild will sell directly to me, I'd be happy to split a 25 foot roll with you.

Thanks, Tom. Any idea quanto costa $$$? If not too much and you think it's the right one, I'm open.

I'd have to look at my gasket to be sure, but I agree the profile looks ok....with the addition of the little nub on the left? Didn't check dimensions yet. Just to be sure we're talking the same thing, looking for the rubber gasket that runs all around edge of the trunk on a cabriolet. Mine is torn a bit where the two parts join. Not worth a major expense, but might would look better and it's only going to keep tearing over time.

Count me in if someone wants to split a roll. Its the only gasket that was not replaced during the repaint. Mine is about an inch short on each side of the latch. Just shrunk over time.

I'll contact Fairchild and find out if they will sell to me and, if so, the cost per roll (which will handle two 968s.) I would appreciate some confirmation from others that this looks like a good match. By my measurements it's almost pefect.

Hey gryphon,

Any new on Fairchild selling direct to you and how much? Sorry I haven't been back with you sooner, just focused on the other car improvements. Sounds like huskydog and I would go in with you....let us know.

Thanks!

Hi Kathy.

I did receive a sample from Fairchild but it is somewhat larger than the stock gasket. I've been really busy helping my son apply to colleges and for scholarships (all the more money saved for 968 projects), so have not gone much farther. I will try to get into it within a week or so. Please forgive the delay.

Also can anyone who has access to a coupe tell me if they use the same gasket profile as the cabs? If so it may be easier for me to make a bulk buy and get rid of the excess.

Thanks, Tom. No worries. I'm in no rush. Better that you get that scholarship money with your time!

Sorry that gasket didn't work....if you do find another source, I'm in on a bulk purchase.

Thanks!
