wake up call
#61

Understood. So what's with all these fires, anyway? I don't remember anything remotely like this while growing up in California. Is it just that so many more people are moving closer to the edges of the forests? I'm sure, like with so many of today's issues, there are a multitude of causes.

i'm talking about he burning of the rainforests - we are losing 1.5 acres every second - with the rainforests producing 20% of the world's oxygen, this is bad on a global scale

OK, that's it. Hide the ropes, razor blades, kitchen knives, German Chocolate cake (hey, if you're going to go, I can't think of a better way than Death By Chocolate...) because now I'm really getting depressed. Sheesh, we all really need to lighten up around here...
I thought this would add some contrast:

Gore's Truth?

Many consider Gore's movie as science fiction.
The narrator alone makes that clip hard to watch.

I dont buy in to the scare 100% myself. Far too many variables to measure the earths temperature and gauge it accurately over the decades. However the problem is real. pollution is damaging the earths natural process, in turn effecting our air and water.

Yep that's truly sad! It's not just the fires, but the clear-cutting with complete disregard to the damage being done. The government in the Amazon region has taken steps to preserve what's left, but unfortunately doesn't have the resources for enforcement.
