VIN number
#1

Hi Hope every one is getting ready to take their ride out of garage, at least the northeast. I have a question about my VIN # WPORR2969PS82077, I have read where some times you can tell what # the car was that was made from the factory. Does some one know how to interpret this number as to the number car it was when made? Thanks

the last 4 are the ones.

Porsche kept the first 60 numbered cars for internal, so the first public number is 61.

Subtract from 2077 and your car should have been the 2,017the car made in that year. If this decoder is correct you must have a 1992-1994 to have that high a number.

The vin plate should show the month and date it was made in the normal date form.

It seems like a big number or maybe I have remembered the info incorrectly.

Yes, you have some issues with your posted VIN.

It should be WP0AA2969PS820077?

The RR is AA and you should have six digits for your VIN sequence. Does that look right?

that would explain the big production number.

0077 would be the 17th car, right?

17th 1993!! P tells us the car is a 1993. That would make it the, get this, <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/ohmy.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> 666th <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/ohmy.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> 968 coupe produced for the US market of the 2,234.

A black 94 coupe with LSD and a VIN ending in triple 6 would be cool.
