The pictures in the press kit are really nice. I just wish there were in color!!!

I'll probably eventually have them framed. Then I'll need to figure out where to hang them...

Thanks for posting this. I have two colour photo's of a 968 Turbo RS (the Yellow one) - one in the pits (3/4 view from front) and a front view on the track. These are at home and once I get back there, I will scan them and post them (they are only 6x4" but I had them blown up to A3 for framing.



Agree it would be nice to have the colour photo's. What do you think Porsche would say to opening up their archives of 968 stuff for us 968 nuts?

Funny how these things turn up. I just received that same kit in hard copy along with some Porsche Motorsport parts that I just purchased from the motherland. I have it in English and German for the R and the RS. All of the pictures and in B&W.

Certainly the looks alone make many of us fantisize about owning a CS T. I know the guy who owned both the yellow and the white US cars in the late '90s and he doesn't give great reports. He says they cost a fortune (to keep on the track), rarely ran correctly, ate turbos constantly, and "frankly just frustrated the hell out of him". These cars were used as race only, and perhaps needed more r&d. I'm guessing the fortunate few who own them now have incorporated some of today's technology under the hood. Even so, I think a CS T would be a good problem to have!

I think (apart from us 968 tragics) that the biggest desire to own a 968 Turbo or Turbo RS is simply their rarity. Not many other Porsche models only had build numbers of 11 and 4 cars respectively. THese are absurdly low build numbers - hence the value attached. Most car manufacturers make more Alpha cars prior to moving to Beta test cars, then pre-production cars, etc.



It would be nice, but in the end, unless one of the four Peter Fitzgerald versions comes up for sale in Australia - it is not going to happen.



In terms of feedback, one of the Fitzgerald cars was owned by a QLD Porsche club member who also owned a 996 Turbo at the time. He was more sorry for selling the 968 Turbo RS replica.

Craig, the actual number of Turbos built by the factory is closer to 25-30 cars. I have been documenting/collecting pictures/colors etc etc etc on these cars for the last 4 years. I'm looking to build a 968 Turbo Webpage once my reserach is complete. The true numer or Turbo cars is unknown. But i have VIN's for 22 cars so far and pictures of most of them as well as locations for about half. Weissach knows the real number. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

yeah - it doesn't surprise me that you are finding this stuff - there are more cars out there than the released public information says, both in turbos and in standards - pretty soon i expect to see the numbers for the first 60 92s that got built, and also see what happened to the 60 chassis from each of the other years (we've seen a couple of them surface)

My understanding is that there were only 4 968 Turbo RS's made by Porsche AG (lucky for us, 2 are in the USA - number 1 in North Carolina and number 4 in Texas). Porsche AG built a total of 14 968 Turbo S and number 10 is owned by Pete at RS Barn, with a few up in Canada.



Of course, an owner could take a Turbo S and convert it to a Turbo RS or convert a Club Sport to either a Turbo S or RS. However, these cars would be replicas but would still be very desirable by 968 lovers and a lot less expensive than the originals.



Dino, I have looked on Ebay for the other Starter 968 TRS model kit that you want (LeMan car 58) but it appears to also very rare. Keep looking.



I am also planning on having a 1:24 scale model of 968 Turbo RS number 1 made - have the 2 Hasegawa Kits (968 CS & 944 Turbo Racing), correct wheels, fuel Cell and 1:24 scale decals but my son has not started it yet. Since I now have many 968TRS photos from my 1:43 scale model, it should be easier to build the 1:24 scale model. May have to use the same guy who built my 1:24 scale 1957 Chevy El Morocco.

i'm not surprised that the released information is inaccurate, and that fox is finding more turbos out there - the information from the factory that was issued to the public is dubious at best - i've found a number of discrepancies already, and haven't really begun looking into it all yet - knowing what the federal laws and requirements are for manufacturers, and that they have to plan to build a set number each year for testing, i'm sure there are a number of early cars not in the public database, and a bunch of tubs - i find it hard to believe that they would just destroy them all
