Track Day at NCCAR
#1

Saturday was a track day put on by the North Eastern NC club. Brand new track just opened in north eastern NC. Wasn't a DE but was great fun. Did 3 15 min sessions.
Pace car led the pack and had no passing rule. I pushed my car pretty hard and it performed beautifully. You can check out about NCCAR on the web.
What I discovered was that I'm a pretty good driver. There were others with more powerful cars out there that didn't do as well as I did. Price was right too. $60 for the 45 min on track and the $ included lunch. Most fun I've had in a long while.

Was that your first experience on the track? Sounds like you have some natural talent. My first time (first five times or so, actually), I was getting passed by EVERYTHING, including Mini Coopers and VW Golfs . I sucked so bad I was off the charts. Finally got the hang of it, though. Now I can't think of anything (OK, everybody, get your minds out of the gutter) more fun than a day at the track. Highly addictive.

My first few times out, I was passed by lesser vehicles than this, including that pesky kid on the ten-speed. To be fair, though, she was pretty buff for an 11-year-old...

I wouldn't say I'm a natural. I don't have enough track time for that. What I can say is that a 997 turbo in front of me was taking turns too wide and I had to slow down so as not to be right on his rear end.

It was fun to see how focused I could be on the track ahead and have no other distractions. I'm trying to get a group from the PCA hurricane region to book a day at this track where we can have the whole day and limit it to 4 cars on the track at a time and do time trials. See if we can improve our times from run to run.
