Let me preface this by saying that I limited my list to what I figured were mainstream production models. I left out limited production cars (i.e abarth 356, Glaser (sp?) 356's, Kharmann bodied cars, etc.) I'm sure you have your own opinions and I am interested in seeing how you expand/contract/modify your own lists. With that said here we go.
1. 912 - Although it has the look of the well recognized early 911, not many people understand or remember that there was ever a 4-cylinder "911"
2. 914/914-6 - I've seen it happen more than once at an auto show. Somebody walks by one of these and has to ask what it is and who made it. Looks nothing like any other Porsche in my opinion.
3. 968 - You had to know ours would be on here. How many times have you been asked what it is or if it is a 944? Only us select few remember and cherish the 968.
4. 924 - Same reason as above. 944's are way to common and cheap and the 924's similar styling causes it to often be grouped under the "it's a 944" umbrella.
5. 928 - Were it not for Tom Cruise and Risky Business this Porsche would go relatively unremembered. Although it had the longest production run of any of the other models, it is still uncommon to see them and many commoners don't recognize them.
So there it is. My opinion. Take it for what it's worth and feel free to do what you want with it.
