Tiptronic steering wheel controls on Tip car?
#1

I know there aren't too many people who have put a 996 steering wheel in their cars...but wondering if anyone has put a 996 tiptronic wheel in and wired up the controls? It doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to wire into the manual shift controls and adjust to the right resistance input - the only thing that would concern me is the computer getting an input for an up/downshift from the steering wheel when the shifter is not over in the manual section.

I found one thread of someone putting in and using the tiptronic controls for their stereo, but that doesn't have anything to do with this.

I loved the paddle shifters on our previous Mini Cooper S enough that when we got our A4 wagon, I swapped in an S4 steering wheel with paddles and use them often.

Thoughts?

If you go with tip controls why use a 996 wheel when you could have paddle shifting....
