THE PLANK CLUB
#21

I just remembered another reason I don't like backing into parking spaces. In order to back into most parking spaces, you have to pull forward of the space, and then back into it. Given the crowding at most parking lots, there are usually multiple cars at a time on the hunt for spaces. I'm always afraid that if I pull in front of the space I'd like to back into (yes, it has actually crossed my mind on occasion), the person behind me won't understand my intentions, and slip into the space, thinking I had for some reason passed on it. Yes, I could turn on my turn signal, but I'm not confident most people would get the message.

I never park close enough to anything else in a parking lot for that to be an issue....I'm the guy 1/2 mile out with nothing around me.

The corelation is that when I come back I usually have a couple POS's parked 4" away from my doors...

Ditto. Good for the car and good for the human to walk an extra block. My 5-year old mazda has 0 door dings (and that includes >50 parking opportunities at the airport lots).
