this is in no way any form of guarantee of coverage. insurance laws vary from state to state. what a company will and will not do varies from company to company, and year to year:
many insurance companies will cover you, as long as it is not a timed or in any way competitive event. you can't even have the event logged for the purposes of classification of run group. that being said, even AAA has told me that, here in california, they will cover you for a DE, as it is a "driver education" event. however, as soon as they find out you are timing your laps, you're done.
