And they REALLY know how to "Option Out" the various models!!! By the time you get tthe options on the car you want, you can buy a really nice 968, just for the option money...

$8K for ceraamic brakes???? Or even more??? How much for a track computer on the dash??? I will keep my baby 968 for a looonnnggg time!

For me, exclusivity is the key with the 968 - it doesn't always have to mean mega-expensive exotic. I love driving a car that you rarely - if ever - see on the road. While 911s of any era are not that common, even here in socal, the 968 still makes 911 drivers (if they're Porsche enthusiasts anyway. A lot of them aren't) look twice. But I'll generally throw a thumbs-up to any vintage (pre-90's) 911 I pass going the other way.

I saw a Chevy Citation the other day. Homeless guy inside. Pretty exclusive.

Citation was a hatchback, just like the 968.

Mine turns heads almost every day.

It has a very high "surprise" factor, and a very low "douche bag" factor.

Each of the 21 model names that are preceded by "911" are not really 911s anymore (the 993 was probably the last one).

Just like 95% of the vehicles we see on the road called "SUV" are really "station wagons".

The age old lament of engineers -- "the marketing guys made us do it!"

Not to mention that for the last couple of years hatchbacks have been and continue to be a prominent feature of many sports cars, and high end super sports cars ..and of course what can one say about the Ferrari FF ?! Hatchback GT ? Crossover SUV to compete with Subaru, LOL ? The old 968 is the new Porsche !! Yeah baby, we're baaaaaaaack !!

Took my 968 on some sales calls yesterday, and as always happens when I do that, I end up with some "sold" truck bodies! It's mostly because the municipal fleet managers like to see that I am driving something "exclusive". We talk about the 968 and at the end of the sales call I end up getting the "go ahead" for the new unit that has been quoted to them! I never thought the 968 would be a good "sales tool"... I wonder if it would qualify as a tax "write off"....

When I was in sales (computer hardware) my customers always wanted to "ride" in my 951 and then 968. I think customers want to buy from someone they perceive to be successful and Porsche defines successful.

911's and all the Porsche SUV's are common as muck over here in Aberdeen, Panamera's are much rarer..The Audi range is what I'm most sick of, you can't move for them, especially the A5...in white! God somebody blow them all up please their crap. Every Audfi looks the same. It used to be cool to drive one about 20 years ago. Not now.

I hope Audi does the Quattro concept, and doesn't make it an unaffordable exotic, as I've read. That car at least breaks away from current too-common across the model range Audi styling.

I like the A 5 body style, but not the S 5.. not sure why they had to mess with the body design ( as subtle as the changes may be, it

is to the detriment of the car IMHO ) they could have just put the optional engine S 5 engine / performance package in the same body .

Yeah, I can't tell an A4 from an A6 unless I get right on top of them. Kind of like the Hyundai Elantra and the Sonata. Very formulaic.
