Texas Hill Country
#1

To all of the central Texas 968 drivers:

I am taking a road trip this weekend for a wedding in Fredericksburg. I am planning on dropping the convertible top and cruising down Highway 281 from Dallas to Fredericksburg Friday after work and then coming back up Sunday. Does anyone have any suggestions of either must stop places along the route or particular stretches of road to open the car up on or be sure to reign in on?

I picked the car up from RUF last Friday and everything checked out well. I got new power steering lines plus new rear brakes, so the car should be ready to run a little. This is my first time to take the car on an extending open road driving trip, so I am getting excited and thought I would turn to others to see about suggestions...all are welcome.

Thanks in advance...

Take the 12 from Wimberley over to Blanco if you have time. Mistakenly called the devils backbone but it is a nice drive.

16 is also a nice drive starting in Medina and going up through Graham.

Carry a spare DME relay, a spare heater valve , a qt. of oil and a can of flat fix.

Wear a hat for sunburn and cool shades.

Stop where and when you want.

Have a great trip!

Check out Boxtoberfest. It is held every year in the Hill Country. They publish the previous years routes. I can tell you that the one year I ran it, it was really fun.
