Temp Gauge
#1

Hello all,

My 968 has very erratic temp reading when its been running for 5-10 mins. I think there is a loose connection or the sending unit is bad. It will jump from the middle of the range to way past the top of the red. I believe it's a loose contact because of the erratic jumps. Can someone tell me where the sending unit is and if my diagnosis may be correct.

Thanks

Frank

I had the same issue on my cab. Replaced the sending unit, but then found out the resistor was shot on the back of the little gauge itself. Bought a 951 cluster off ebay for $50 bucks. The older clusters use coils instead of resisters and seem to be more dependable. Perfect operation now.

I originally was shopping for the resistor, and could not find a match at Able tronics or Radio Shack. Good luck in troubleshooting.
