Tangerine 968 on BBC
#1

I was watching BBC's Top Gear last night and they did a piece on a 24 hr. race at Silverstone. the Top Gear Crew entered a diesel powered BMW three series powered some sort of biodiesel. During the qualification and racing scenes there was an orange or tangerine 968 coupe in the thick of things. This was a 2007 episode I believe.

I always enjoy this show, the stunts are always great. recently they featured a race between that ultra fast Bugatti, Veryon, I believe, and an RAF Eurofighter. The Bugatti was to make a standing start cover one mile turn around and cover a second mile back to the start line. The Eurofighter was to start from a standing start, take-off, climb to an altitude of one mile, return to sea level and cross the start finish line in flight. The Eurofighter won. Makes me want jump back into the cockpit!!!

That car you saw is owned by a good friend of mine...

It was raced in the Britcar 24hr race that was shown as part of a Top Gear broadcast. The "green one" in the pics, was also raced in both the 07 + 08 Britcar 24hr race...

He did actually race it in the 24hr, but since bought it from the team that did race it. He is now competing in selected PCGB events...

See pics below, PS its now been decaled up in sponsors logo,s....

Very cool, I don't recall seeing the green one in the racing sequences they showed. It looks as if the 968 gave a good account of itself during the race. The Brit Car 24 hours looks like it would be fun to compete in.

Great pics Dave.

I hate orange, but that orange cat looks pretty sweet!

I came across a bunch of pics of the green car, which looks to have been well sorted.

Funny enough, That is my good self driving the car...

When my m8 had the car delivered, 3 of us gave it a shakedown at Silverstone, So you can understand why i had a ear to ear grin....The chap in the passenger seat is the guy that built the engine...+ helped prepare it....

Im pretty sure the owner of the said car lurks on this site...I know he frequents a few of the UK 968 sites...

Its actually a Lambourghini pearlecent orange. The pics DONT do it justice...It glows.....

Thanks 4 posting...

That colour may be a wee bit too bright for a street car - it would too easilly catch the eye of the local authorities.

This orange is nice, but I prefer the burnt orange found on the Zo6.

I must have been watching the same show at the same time. Once i saw that one I was so proud of my 968. Even though my 968 has a lot more problems. Oh how i wish i had about 7K to put into my car.
