Nice to know you guys are here! i just baught a 93 cab its very cleen but the rear suspention seems to be shifted to the drivers side about a 1/2 ". Is this common,is there an adjustment,any ideas <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

My rear suspension is fine on my 92 but I don't have much to help with beyond that. More technical people will chime in I expect.

1st congrats on your new purchase. You will enjoy your 968 immensely. 2nd there is great support here for the 968.



Since I am up late and most probably the only person still awake, I will start with a possible solution.



You may have one spring plate sitting a little low. The spring plate is what connects the torsion bar to the wheel. Now why they call it "spring plate" if there is no spring is a mystery. But Porsche is all knowing <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> .

There are adjustments for camber on each wheel which will look as if the rear is offset to one side or the other if the adjustment is incorrect. If you are measuring the distance from the tire to the fender and it looks like there is more room on one side than the other this is probably just an alignment adjustment which any good shop can correct. Another possibility is bent rear suspension components which would require new parts (or good used parts from a salvage yard). The "spring plate" is called that because it connects the torsion bar to the suspension and the torsion bar is just another type of spring which Porsche uses on most of their cars. Find a good alignment shop with a Bear or Hunter brand machine and give your 968 a four wheel alignment. Corner weight adjustments and adding negative camber will hellp a lot if you want to make the car handle better on the track. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.
