Superbowl LII

So you get a gift from the football gods with that catch and don't give Marshawn Lynch the ball from the 1 yard line on 2nd and 1? Anybody else think that was 1 of the worst play calls ever??? Just sayin!

you guys crack me up.  it's fine if carroll goes for it in the same situation in the first half, but not fine when he goes for it in the second?  sounds to me like a seahawk fan with sour grapes.  frankly, i think he made boneheaded decisions the entire game.  they should have gotten creamed, and by the end of the first quarter, and frankly all the way up until the last 2 minutes of the first half, i thought it was going to be a slamdunk.  but for a couple of lucky plays, things would have been very different.

and no, i'm not a pats fan, or a brady fan.  not a fan of the game at all.   in fact, this was the first football game i've watched in years.

and i agree that there is no excuse for that brawl, and they should all be heavily penalized for that, and in fact, criminal charges applied.

The reason it was such a terrible call is because the Seahawks have arguably the best Red Zone running back in the NFL. They had plenty of time to run 2 plays, and a time out. Why, oh why, wouldn't you give the best running back an opportunity to score. There was nothing to lose.

I'm not a fan of either team, but I hate the Patriots just a little bit more.

like i said, there were bonehead moves all through the game.  that one just happened to cost the most.  i thought most of their strategy was ill-conceived.  the pats should have creamed them.  they were picking them apart the entire first half. the disparity of possession and completions was huge.  that is usually the telling tale.  before the game started, i looked at the injuries of the seahawks and the offense stats of the pats.  that did not bode well for the seahawks, no matter how good their defense was through the season.  but for a couple of lucky plays, it would have been a much larger split.

p.s. - the pats made their share of bonehead moves too, and got a couple of breaks with some ref calls (or lack thereof)

i don't understand anybody loving or hating any team.  it's not like they have some philosophical position from which such a position could be derived.  they are all the same.  heck, the coaches and players are rotated from team to team.  carroll coached both of the teams in yesterday's game.  how could anybody take such a position of extreme?

but they did that through the entire game.  why pick apart a single decision?  he did the exact same thing at the end of the first half, and everybody was giving him credit for having balls.  but, when luck goes the other way, the story changes????

it was bad coaching the entire game.  it was just misleading when they made a couple of plays that resulted in scores.  for example, it was a horrible decision on the pat's part to leave that guy wide open in the end zone like that. no way that should happen.  that touchdown never should have happened.  that lucky bobble catch was insane.  2 guys on him, and neither one nailed the ball?  how many times did the seahawk's offense go so lame that wilson had to scramble?  it was a coaching bungle all around, and only a couple of lucky breaks put the seahawks on the scoreboard at all.

by all rights, that game should have been a blowout.

i'm so glad i don't watch football though.  the armchair quarterbacks (me included) would make me crazy

OK, maybe I don't hate the Patriots, I hate Belechick (the coach) who cheated his way to a win in 2005 against my beloved Philadelphia Eagles. This is fact, he was fined personally as well as penalties to the team in treasure and draft picks. Here we are 10 years later and his team is still cheating. Tom Brady was the quarterback for the same team.

Do you think Senna would know if his tire pressure was 2 lbs off in a F1 race car, or Nadal in his tennis racket? how much difference could Tom Brady feel in a football? You can't tell me he didn't know the difference.

I hate cheaters!

Jay are you sure those balls weren't suffering from George's dreaded shrinkage?

had to laugh at flash's " criminal charges " suggestion ; if that was the case the NHL would not exist  Tongue

but suspensions and serious fines are definitely in order for that ridiculous conduct  .  although, I'm surprised they picked on one another, i would have thought the entire seahawks team would be chasing after the offensive coordinator and coach after the game :glare:

yes, there were bad coaching decisions throughout the entire game, but none of them ( or even if you add all of those up ) nearly as idiotic as that one single call.   a three year old would have  made a better choice

For all of you statistical followers there is a good piece on FiveThirtyEight Sports titled " Head Coach botched the End of the Super Bowl and it wasn't Carroll".

C'mon, it's just my tribe vs yours. There's no need for a reason. Some good old rivalry just for the sake of it. The other teams suck, the one nearest to your is the arch enemy. Simple as that, lol.

true enough.  that said, one of my pet peeves is : people referring to their favorite team as   " we " .  drives me nuts, unless YOU PLAY for that team, YOU are not part of  " we "

on that very topic, i thought this skit was funny :    www.youtube.com/watch?v=xN1WN0YMWZU

The beast was only 1 for 5 from the one yard line this season.

It was supposed to be a cross route picking the defender off one of the receivers but the other receiver was jammed at the line.

Bad job by the receiver, did not go hard enough to the ball.

Bad job by Wilson, he lead him too far, possibly expecting the receiver to be moving faster.

Most of all it was a great play by the defender.
