I've had my 93' coupe for a couple of months now and I was wondering since it gets into the 100's here in Sacramento are there any steps I can take to "prep" my car for high temps?

How fresh are your fluids? Always good to have a fresh coolant charge and oil fill. Go with a 40/60 antifreeze to water mix for your reigon. Water is a better cooling agent than Prestone. A 15w-50 synthetic oil will help defend against thinning. Also, have your AC refrigerant charge checked.



Given that everthing else is in good shape, these cars handle high temps pretty well.

Living in Sacramento also, I know what your talking about. I agree totally with the new fluids - I run 15-50 mobile 1 and need to get my coolant change this spring - in addition for personal comfort, I have tinted my hatch and rear side windows - This helped a lot.



I've had my coupe for 1 1/2 summers so far and have had no issues relating to the heat.

I remember one October when I was at Sac State it was 100 or more every single day. Must have been 1981 or so.



I had a Mercury Capri with no a/c and I don't remember being miserable. Funny what you can tolerate when you are young.



I wish I had my car there. Take a drive up to Amador County and zoom the back road that connects Sutter Creek and Volcano (appropriately named Sutter Creek-Volcano Rd). Unbelievable curves! At the end have lunch at the Jug and Rose in Volcano. Then cruise through Daffoldil Hill on the way back. A perfect spring day.
