Ordering from Tire Rack today. I have really enjoyed my 750s - got 23k out of the back and they only got noisy at the end. Great grip and rain confidence for the life of the tires. Fronts are probably good for another 5k. I usually stick below the Michelin/Goodyear F1 level for price reasons and the 750 is no longer available. I can only assume the 760 is a better tire. The Sumitomo got a very strong review from Tire Rack and is $150+ cheaper for the set. Only drawback is that it is also a new tire and there are no user reviews with actual mileage (I hate Tire Rack reviews written by people who just drove the tires home. A 150 mile review is useless).
So... I think it is the Sumitomo. But...

I'll take a look at the Hankook. But, I really don't get too wrapped up in single day tire tests. If this was a track only car they would be relevant. Too many good one day tires get loud and squishy after 7-10k. I have learned that lesson.
Quick check with Tire Rack (the biggest online tire store in the US) shows that the Hankook is not available in the 255/40/17 I need.

Well, after much consideration and nashing of teeth (far too much I suspect), I ordered the Sumitomos.
As if anyone cares <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/huh.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Got em!(Sumi's)(225/50/16 and 245/45/16's).Really liked their performance.Only thing is after about 15,000 they are starting to growl a little(heard you can only expect to get around 20,000 out of them).Probably going to get another set soon.

Mick - You have already put 15,000 miles on a set of HTRZ IIIs? The tire only became available this winter. You must really pack on the miles.
So far I like:
1. The apparent dry grip
2. The wet grip (been raining a lot since I got them 2 weeks ago)
3. The raised lip that protects the rim - biggest I've ever seen
I don't like:
1. A bit noiser at new than the RE750 - but this is a more aggressive tire
2. The sidewall design visuals - just not attractive and the big 'OUTSIDE' lettering is obnoxious
I'll post a Tire Rack review after I get 5k on them - sometime this fall I suspect.

Good point!Too many cars with new tires.Actually, the 968 has Fuzion ZR1's on it and my wifes Audi TT has the new Sumi HTRZ's( in the 18 in size). It had the older Sumi's on it(one went bad) and newer one's had different tread design so had to get the new(HTRZ's) all around.I do like the new Sumi's(she wouldn't know if it had those or monster mudders on it).I have had the Fuzions on the 968 for almost 3 yrs so my story makes more sense now.
