It's written so sensibly, it seems real - but could anyone really be that dumb? And, does anyone think that half of a 25-lb bag of sand would get sucked in and the engine still run? Who wants to simulate this?

Whatever - it is a funny story. If true, incredibly stupid. If not true (more likely, IMHO), incredibly creative.

I guess stranger things have happened, but I also think this has to be a prank.. or the individual's IQ is truly not much higher than that of a few grains in that bag of sand he used to "cleanse" his audi

I know, how ridiculous, and what a waste......the engne will run better if you just pour gasoline over it when its really hot...

Sheesh!

i've heard of some pretty dumb things, but that one has to be one of the best, prank or not

pouring gas over the engine - funny - reminds me of a couple of stupid gasoline related moves

i know of one guy who thought he would find his vacuum leak by squirting gas over the intake, figuring that since carb cleaner would make it show up gasoline would even better - it did - that didn't work out so well so well though - he had the pleasure of cleaning of the fire extinguisher stuff for about 2 weeks as a result of the fire

Come on people...don’t you see...they used the wrong granules of sand...clearly...if they used fine granules...everything would have worked...

yes - that's it - with fine enough sand, they could have made glass - we all know that glass has the smoothest flow characteristics - that would have made the perfect intake - how could i have been so blind?

i must have had sand in my eyes

There are people out there like that. I have heard from someone who worked for Mercedes (my coworker knows him very well) that someone returned a car because it ran out of gas and that they shouldn't have to keep filling it up if they pay that much money for the car..... True story.
