Stripes?
#1

Following the decal thread, I wanted to do something to my plain black car. Wanted something simple and came up with this mockup.

Thoughts? Comments?

Simple, incorporated the classic Porache stripe into it. Getting a quote now from a decal/vinyl guy.

Agreed. Top and front look great. I am not sure about the side unless you went with a horizontal orientation along the side skirt and lower door.

I agree with Flash that top and front view are cool . I think the side view needs to be more contoured.

I was wanting to break it up some, if I had it along the door sill it jut looked like too much going front to back.

But still work in progress, have all winter to figure it out.

how about a narrower band starting at the tail light, running over the top of the rear fender arch, then curving downward to the top of the rockers and running between the wheels?

This car is being sold by a friend of mine...you can see how he striped it. BTW, the car is very fast and fully set up by RS Barn.

How about making the side strip run the length of the car but still diagonal? Try a mock up with the small upper strip appearing to extend off of the rear wing and ending up with the bottom strip all the way to the bottom of the front bumper / splitter? Obviously the wheel openings will break it up the same way the glass does on top.

You could get real cute and paint the rear wing (and splitter if you have one) to match the strip making the strip appear to be an extension of the wing, and the lower portion of the strip could extend around the rear of the car. If you want to keep the strips on the wing running length wise, lower the strip in the rear and see how that looks.

I agree the sharp angle doesn't do it for me either.

Here is another one, but not crazy about this one. I will also try some of the others raised here.

i think if you make the stripes narrower, the lower one will look better - don't like the rubber band wrap of the upper one at all

I'm with flash - more narrow

They weren't that wide and were closer together in your first mock-up

If it were me, Id ditch the side stripes all to together. Also check out some different width stripes on the top. Just my $.02.

The stripes on the top that run along the length remind me of the stripes on the Design 1 Cayman and Design 2 Boxster. I also like the logo along the lower sills.

Monstrous4Banger, I'm starting to think the same thing, just drop the side strips. But that is the great thing about vinyl, stick it on or pull it off. Updated image above.
