Squeaking seals
#1

My hatch and sunroof seals squeak a lot. Has anyone found a good way to quiet this squeaking, or do I need to buy new rubber? Thanks!

gummi-fledge from the bmw dealer...

or Sil-Glyde from any NAPA parts store... I use the sil-glyde. Apply it sparingly with a rag and rub it in.

Jon, the hatch squeaks can be taken care of by adjusting the switch to let it tighten more before it locks down. There is a microswitch under the tab located in the front, center of the sunroof. Rear hatch might respond to adjusting the bayonet retaining pieces on each side that fit into the latches. Loosen the lock nut and tighten with a flat tim screwdriver. If all the adjustments don't work, get the new seals from sunset Imports, they seem to have the best prices. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.
