square head socket set
#1

I'm looking for a set of square-head (not triple square) sockets. I don't care about great quality, as I only intend to use them for occasional, non-automotive projects. The present need is to disassemble some furniture to refinish it. I don't see anything on the Sears or Harbor Freight sites. Any ideas?

Mikeo, those are the kind I am looking for but in smaller sizes to fit screws in furniture. I may visit Ace Hardware today to check out what they have based on a phone conversation with a kid who works there--probably a wild goose chase but not far away.

Flash, thanks and let me know if you find out anything from your parents.

Try McMaster Carr they carry a wide variety, there's no minimum order and they'll ship to your door.

Two words, "Snap-On"

I got a nice set from them some years ago for wife's hobbies. Around $30/40 I think.

Surprise, surprise, Sarge! Ace Hardware did, in fact, have them in tip sizes #1, #2 & #3, and calls them "square-recess bits," (as does McMaster-Carr).

And, ether joe, good old Google says that they are in fact also called Robertson screws, invented by a Canadian of the same name. Wonder if my furniture was made in Canada?
