Baking your body
#1

I saw a brief posting somewhere on the web for baking the paint and sound deadening from a complete car by baking it at 700 degrees (if I remember correctly). Seems to me that this would preserve the galvanized coating on the Porsche body. Has anyone heard of this or know of a shop that does this?

I speak with absolutely no experience, and I've never heard of this. That said, I'm not sure what is meant by "complete car" but unless the car has been otherwise completely stripped, I'd worry about unwanted effects on, for example, wiring, anything rubber, etc. Even things like internal seals in shocks might be adversely affected by such temperatures.

I think he is referring to the unibody structure.

Thanks PorscheDude.

Anchor, my error. I posted this under racing with the assumption that the reader would understand I was interested in stripping a complete uni-body of all material without damage from sand blasting or sanding.

PorscheDude, that's the process, now who has one large enough for a car shell?
