Same for Italian spec cars. But I believe that South African spec cars came without a cat, so maybe no oxygen sensor as well.

I can vouch for Australia also having a Cat and O2 sensor. I was talking to another 968 owner when I travelled down to NSW for a track day at Eastern Creek and he suggested that replacing the O2 sensor will actually increase HP given the cars age. I have a quote from my mechanic to replace the O2 sensor that I am thinking about curently.

So yes to both a Cat and an O2 sensor for the land down under (or is that upside down?).

my 92 has no cat and no O2 sensor... Cat was cut out due to poor fuel quality back then. (South Africa)

According to PET cars without an O2 sensor have option code M150 (Operation with leaded gas). Looking these up results in to following:

Code # Note
C00 2 German specification
C06 3 French colonial specification
C16 1 UK specification
C24 18 New Zealand specification
C26 33 South African specification
C31 8 Saudi Arabian specification
C32 31 Arab Gulf State specification
C99 21 Non standard specification

Anyone who knows the exact differences? I've seen a plug for the O2 sensor and a potentiometer. I cannot find an exhaust without a cat in PET...

On exhaust, there is a metal stud screwed into the pipe where I assume the O2 sensor should be fitted.

Yes, that's what I meant by plug. The rest of the M150 hardware (brackets, cable harness and potentiometer) is located near the DME. Probably there's more but I don't know how to check that other then going thru all PET pages.
