Someones' knickers are in a knot,...

I was searching for something unrelated, and came across this other 968 Supercharger for sale on the web... From the language used in the advertisement, they sure don't like their competition!

I just read the link and now understand the Post title...

Those to whom those words were obviously directed... take a DEEP breath... and only reply with wisdom

All I can add is: "sticks and stones can break my bones but WORDS can never hurt me"

Just for the record, I'm reasonably sure that his very pointed advertising is not directed toward anyone who participates in this forum, though someone here might quible with a number of his claims.

The best one I have seen is on an rl post where his tag line says "Friends don't let friends by from xxxMotorsports". Now there's probably a story behind that? And a law suit?

yeah - my numbers are higher than those mentioned, and the kit is definitely proven. that obviously was not about mine.

and i have yet to see one of those kits work right, and it does not include the tuning required, so not a "bolt-on" kit

I suspect this kit might not be street legal in California.

And does the advertised kit allow retention of the A/C? No mention of it in the ad.

If you read between the lines of the advertisement, this kit will not only bolt on, it will massage your buttocks and fix you a fresh seltzer with a sprig of mint between rest stops.

I watched the video linked to the ad and I'm scratching my head...

Does anyone else hear a childs voice sounding like it's in the car? My guess is that it's on a dyno or jackstands, but even still....

That text was pretty poorly written. And that's something, coming from a non-native speaker...

The video is from Kunz, who is a forum member here and posted his install and results in detail but haven't seen him post anything for a long time. He had a few videos with his kids in the car.

The SFR kit has been around for a long time. I have it, although I have heavily modified the belt system over the last few years. The procharger is a good unit. The kit hardware is reasonably good, but it is expensive for what you get. You can't keep your AC.

Is it just me, or in the kit photo's is there no drive belt installed? I cannot see one.

is kunz's car the one that blew up and pete had to rebuild the engine? didn't that car just go up for sale a few months ago? i know it was one of the SFR cars.

eric's car, which also had one of those systems, never did run right, and was also sold.

i notice that there is no provision for part throttle on boost condition, which is probably why they don't work right. a rising rate regulator is NOT the answer.

the intercooler they use is also a large problem. where they put it results in a LOT of restriction and a fairly serious degradation of the cooling system.

the procharger is a good unit. the system is just incomplete. the welds are pretty though.

hmmm - $6199 for a kit without tuning, AC delete only, and no CARB certification. maybe i need to raise my price a couple thousand dollars?

nah - somebody else already did that and we saw the response.

i'm not sure what these guys are thinking. the market just won't bite on that. when it was first out there, a couple of people bought into it. they were willing to spend whatever it took. now though, that kind of thing just isn't necessary.
