Slow response times
#1

Over the last few weeks the forum has continued to slow its responses to the point where I can not even log in at times. I have this effect on 3 different computers, 3 different networks (cell, work and home) and 3 browsers (IE, Firefox and Chrome). Many times when I do get in I have to click multiple times on a topic before I finally get a page. If I post there are time when I do not get a response from the POST button and I have to copy my text, back out and re-post.

Just my account?

not sure what's going on, but it's not just you. i am seeing it too. it is hit and miss. most of the time it's fine. then it gets jammed up. then it's fine again. meanwhile, other sites are fine.

i'm looking into it.

No worries, just didn't see anyone mentioning it so I thought I had better speak up. I only really care about the "Splitter" topic anyway. All the rest is crap <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.png" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/laugh.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

PS. While your at it can you move all the common emoticons to the bar at the bottom of the post screen instead of always having to click on "show all"?

No problems here. Probably just the border police inspecting the bits...

Same issue. Switched to firefox and it seems better. Not perfect but better.

Happens to me, too. If a page takes more than 5 seconds to come up, I press F5 and that seems to kick it in the pants.

Yea, F5 is a solution but it's so annoying (usd it 3 times already). The other anomaly I experience is when posting. The characters that are echoed back to me are often at a veyr slow pace, I out type what I see on the screen. This is triggered by opening the emoticon bar most (all?) of the time. The emoticons in the bar also slow down to about 1/2 speed as well like my coomputer was a 386.

I've been experiencing slow response times as well, off and on. I thought it was just me and my not-so-new computer.

Today I got six white pages instead of new posts, and no amount of refreshing would make them come up for a good 5 minutes, until finally they came up one by one... I think there's a hole in the "cloud", and I got a bad server or something.

That's the problem with "cloud" services - as in real life when you're in a cloud there's zero visibility when something goes wrong and you're just left to wonder.

i will be contacting the host today. we got rid of the other service that seemed to be causing problems. then things were fine. now they occasionally get jammed up.
