Mark,
Based upon the tech specs, should work fine...BUT...will they fit in the cubbies? I don't think you had the opportunity to hear the Kenwood slim line subs when we were in Newtown, but I'm very tickled with the results. I did two - one behind each seat, wired with a passive crossover in combination with the rear 4x6s. I still need to find a way to permanently mount them, but the wedge nicely in the rear footwells so long as you aren't moving the seats back and forth over and over, which I rarely do. I had considered mounting them to the back of the fold down parts of the seats too, but again, physical dimensions and wire routing were just not cooperating. The model number is KSC-SW1 - google it. eBay has them BNIB for around 100.00 or so.

Man I wish Eric would load the picture fix for the forum software. ARGH!
I do slide my seats back and forth a lot so I'm not sure those would be a good idea for me. I also use that part of the floor for a little bit of storage when driving around. I'd also like to have them out of sight if I can.
I think these will fit in the cubbies as they are only 13x9x2.8 inches. I'll need to measure obviously before I got to the trouble of ordering anything. I'm not sure how much room is under the seats but I might try them there and put regular amps in the cubbies for the other speakers. As for the power I'm sure 2 of them would put out plenty of noise for me. Blaupunkt has never been the most efficient of speakers and normally I wouldn't be looking at them but they do have an extensive line up of thin amps and speakers.

They look great, even if they do not fit I am going to consider them. If you get them I would love a report on how they sound. Next year I begin a major sound upgrade and would like to blow people away with the quality for under $3K. I am already budgeted for $1K for the carputer. Amplification-speakers make up the rest of the budget.

With your coupe you shouldn't have to worry about fitting them in the cubbies should you? It will probably be January before I get around to this as the auto budget is blown until the end of December. If I go for theses you should be able to hear them in the spring on one of my trips to Williamsburg to visit the parents.

I would love the opportunity to hear them. I am with Flash, I am not sure that the area in the wells is acoustically usable. I will use it for the computer, maybe some other peripherals, but that is about it. So the use of high quality components that take up a minimum of space are high on my priority list.
I am always curious about other folks sound solutions.
just to be clear, while useless in a cab, the space behind the wheels works fairly well in a hardtop, though resonance is an issue - that hatch does no favors in the acoustics department - i've heard a couple of subs back there though, and it isn't too bad
i think i would rather form an enclosure and use the side panels

Flash,
My immediate concerns with the coupe and the space behind the wheels are resonance, the huge piece of glass above it looks like disaster to me. My audio build next year will be the most extensive I have done. Everything is coming out, RAAMaudio mat is going in (the new Butyl stuff), and I am trying to do the highest quality work I can. Surveying the car I am happy with the factory speaker locations, but sub placement concerns me. I am not looking for loud, but for high quality. My musical tastes run along the lines of Progressive Rock/Bebop Jazz so bass is needed, but so is everything else. I agree that the coupe is a better soundstage, but the dead space is not my favorite solution. I was actually thinking about the space in the passenger footwell area. A skinny sub there might work there. Or maysomething in the rear "seats." Otherwise I may have to settle for a fiberglass enclosure in the hatch area. We will see, but no way am I going into this without some decent ideas.
Mike,
I have capitalized on the space where the rear seats are. I hope to make a new enclosure out of fiberglass in the future(mdf is heavy). I have a 10" woofer behind each seat and 6 1/2" components in the back. I'm pretty sure I have some pictures of what I've done if you click the link on my name in my signature. I live in Blacksburg, but I'm usually all over VA. If you want to meet up sometime when I'm down your way in the 968 you can hear what I have and see if it gives you any ideas.
Please let me know when you are around. I am in Dallas this week, but I am usually in town. I would really like to see what you have. I know I am going with components in the front and eliminating the rear speakers altogether. Subwoofer is the only thing I am unsure of. Thank you and I look forward to seeing your setup.
