thanks. i wrestled with this decision for years. i never wanted to deal with the maintenance of all that leather, and in a cab, the sun really does a number on it. but, now that i have a zip out rear window in the top, a lot of that hot weather baking is mitigated.
it all started because i moved the speakers forward. then the map pockets were blocking too much of the sound. so i went with the earlier door pockets. but, that left a big hole for the OEM speaker magnet. that meant new panels. then those didn't match the dash, so new dash. then neither of those matched the seats, so new seat panels. all because i couldn't deal with the OEM speaker location. in the end, my front speakers cost me about $3k. oh well. it's only money.
it sure feels nicer though. i had a little extra padding put under each armrest, and the center console lid.
the interior of the car is quieter too. i had extra padding added in the door panels, and the softer material bounces sound less. it's not a lot quieter, but it does make a difference.
i'll post some close up shots when i get everything all buttoned up.
