So, came. He liked it. We talked about storage, spare tires, etc. He said that it was everything that I described. He then said "I think that we're there" and did not remove his wallet from his pocket. WTF does THAT mean?

Sounds like he needs an approval from the wife before he can pull forward to me.

Agreed; Kim you sold the guy on your car now he just needs to sell his wife on the idea.

He said that it was for him and the wife. She knew he was coming to see it and also knew the price. He kicked the tires (literally). He drove it around the parking lot. He listened to the engine. He opened and closed the roof. He looked in the truck. He looked under the hood. He looked inside. He looked everywhere. BUt he did not look in his wallet. And, if he looks at his e-mail in exactly 1 hour and 42 minutes, he will see that I am a "Porsche Nazi" and, like the Soup Nazi on Seinfield, he will read that I said to him "there is no Porsche for you".

Kim, I would seriously list those cars on ebay. With maintenance being up to date, I think you'll get more than you're asking for both the coupe and the cab.

I have owned a ton of cars and I always sell them myself. I don't really mind it. I try to only own cars that appeal to enthusiast-types. Those buyers tend to know what they want, and if they come to see my car, they usually buy it. I don't own garbage cars so I never have to apologize for what I am selling. I would not enjoy trying to sell a beat up Honda Civic to some cheapskate who needs any old affordable car. But enthusiast cars are easy.,,,if you own a nice example. Maybe it's more difficult in other areas of the country, but in the Maryland / DC / Northern Virginia area there are plenty of buyers for interesting cars.

He might have had every intention and desire to buy your car .... but then maybe the reality of his bank statement made the ultimate decision for him. That happens. Dreamers with no money and no credit don't just shop the new car dealerships.

So. Today, I ordered a new thermostat for the cab and a new starter and compressor for the coupe. In for a pernny, in for a pound as the Brits say. The cars will stay in Bugtussle. I have had it wth the peckerheads of the world.

Kim, I noticed your cab made its way to eBay. You might want to add that it has Headlight washers and Heated Seats; I imagine that would be a big plus up North.

Yes, I added it there and have not really been overwhelmed yet with responses. But I am hopeful - plan for the worst and hope for the best. At least I have one offer equal to what I offered it for here. And with the new thermostat to be installed next week it really is worth $8100.

People have gotten smarter on ebay. Most people tend to wait until the last few seconds to put in their maximum bid. You probably won't see a ton of results until the end of the auction...but I think (and hope) you'll be surprised. You may also want to add to the auction description that you have all the service records, and when the most recent major/minor services were to give people a little more insight.
