The groups are set up based on expected lap times of each class. Class is determined by the car and its modifications no matter who is driving it. A stock 968 is in F class no matter whether its being driven by your grandmother or Wolf Henzler.
For the Sebring sprint race the Blue group contains the slowest class cars, Green is faster, and Yellow is fastest. For the Enduro Red was the slower classes, and Black was the faster classes. Every race breaks up the classes differently based on the number of cars in each class that sign up. The color names are completely arbitrary, and mean nothing from race to race.

Yes, I crewed for Gary Grigsby on Friday and Saturday, and then co-drove with him in the enduro on Sunday.

Gary won F Class in the sprint race, beating Karl Poeltl in a very close finish. In the Enduro on Sunday, Gary handed me the car with a nice lead over the other F cars, and I cruised to the checker giving us the F class victory. Did we see you at the track?

Nope I haven't had a day off work in about 3 months so not a chance of going this year.

No, this was just a PCA club race. The only club racing I've ever seen on Speed is the SCCA runoffs, and a couple highlight shows of POC races in California. Its too bad, as club racing is often more exciting to watch than pro racing. There were over 200 Porsches at Sebring and lots of great racing. It seems like someone might have been interested in watching it.

I've got so much stuff on tape and dvd from the last few motnhs I'll be watching it in fast forward to try and find the good stuff. I know I have a bunch of SCCA stuf but I though I had something from Sebring earlier this year as well.

Next up in my car is a NASA race at Mid Ohio in April, and the Mid Ohio PCA race in May. I'm also planning to do the July PCA race at Putnam Park. I'm in the process of scheduling another five or six races, but haven't got it all worked out yet. Come join us at Mid Ohio!! I'll share some of my local knowlege with you so we can get two 968's on the podium!!

An F Stock 968 would take very few changes to be USTCC legal. Wheels/tires and weight are the only issues. You have to run spec 235 Hankook tires on 17x8 max rims. Which means basically, you need to run 7.5's on the back with spacers or get custom wheels. Obviously, some setup changes would be needed. The min weight is 2900 with driver so you could run several hundred pounds lighter than F stock. The east coast USTCC fields have been small in the past but I think it is picking up this year.
Just another option for the 968 racer.

Interesting. I didn't know that the 968 was eligible for USTCC. You're right, I'm planning to run NASA in GTS. My goal is to qualify for the NASA Nationals at Mid Ohio in September.
It looks like USTCC has some nice prize money available which makes it attractive vs. GTS which does not. I'll keep an eye on the USTCC field at Mid Ohio, and see how many cars show up. They might even be in the same race group as GTS. Looking at some of the lap times run at the east coast tracks last year it definitely seems like the 968 could be competitive, although its a little hard to compare since I'm not familiar with the Hankook tires.
A 235 tire on the rear of a 968 would be a pretty radical change. I've got my car handling really well with 245s on the front and 275's on the rear. Bolting on 235's with the current setup would probably make it so loose as to be undrivable. It would probably take a couple of weekends of R&D to get a new setup dialed in.
