hop behind the wheels of an M45... I bet you'd find things very different than your denali.
Something else to consider is the bulb being used... be it a D1s, D2s, or D4s. There's a huge difference in the CRI of the bulb, the color temp they output at, etc.
D2S bulbs are definitely the most common, but they don't do as well compared to the other two bulbs when it comes to how they interact with the human eye. I believe the new lexus vehicles are the most common users of the D4S bulbs... D1S is becoming all but non existent any more.
The denali is certainly not a car that I would consider one with good HID's.
Stanley makes the best projectors out there at the moment... generally found on S2000's, TSX's, TL's, SC430's, etc. The FX35/45 has a very nice bixenon projector, but things are very difference in this regard when you get so far off the floor.
If/when I were to make some projector headlights for my 968, I would most likely be using FX35/45 parts.
The M45 projectors to run a bit more yellow than the other projectors. Could be a result of the bulb mounting in the projector at an angle(yes, the position of the bulb changes the color). It also doesn't have a razor sharp cut off, or lots of color at the cut off(something a lot of people like, but I imagine you would not).
The fact that you describe one of your dislikes of projectors as the scattered pattern really shows me that you haven't been behind the wheel of a good set up. A proper projector will provide a very wide beam, with a VERY even distribution of light. That is the real benefit here.
Also worth noting... GM does have a 6000k bulb that they use in some of their hid applications. Why, I don't know, but they're out there. I do not know what bulb the denali uses, or what the kelvin temp on it is, but find the part number off the bulb and I'd be happy to look it up.
