RS Coolant Tank
#1

I ran into a problem yesterday while trying to revive my TS/RS

The 968 TS must have used a different coolant tank. The stock tanks outlet interferes with the j boot going from the barn door to the turbo intake. I am trying to get to Pocono this coming weekend and that is an obstacle. I ran stock tank and hoses not mounted up to fill and bleed the oversized radiator. This way I could run the car up to temp and play around with fuel pressure settings. The car was pig rich. The fuel pressure regulator was set at 70psi. I now am running 3.5bar and car starts and idles.

Monday-Exhaust

Tuesday- Cyntex for Dyno tuning.

Friday- Pocono Hopefully.

Did the chassis setup last thursday and setup came out great. My biggest worry was the frame being tweeked. Thank goodness it's ok

I have a Turbo S coolant tank in my car. I needed it in order to clear the Naca duct on the hood. It is identical to a 944 turbo coolant tank except it has the fender mounting tabs glued on top.

Interestingly, if you look at any brand new 951 coolant tank the base for the 968 mounting tabs is formed into the tank. I think the mold was changed for the 968 TurboS cars (or in anticipation of a larger run?).

Thanks Eric,

I will check out 951 Tank. I didn't think they had the correct mounting tabs. How did you glue them on?

The 951 tank won't have the mounting tabs glued on but there are pads formed into the tank where they would be glued on. I'm guessing it wouldn't be too big of a project to cut them off a 968 tank and glue them on. Maybe the tabs are available seperately. (I doubt it). I got a 968TurboS tank from Konstantin so I didn't do any glueing.

You can clearly see one of the bases for the mounting tabs on this 951.

I'm glad your problem is solved, Pete. I look forward to seeing those dyno numbers. Good luck! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Erik,

Could you check the part number on the tank and let me know. I'm not sure if it's different from 951 tank or just modified. The 968 turbo J boots have a diff # and are just 951 boots modified.

Thanks,

Pete
