Roof Rack to haul track tires - Question

I saw someone's avitar (on Rennlist or 968 Forums, I cannot remember). Anyway, if you have one and can tell me how you did it, it would be appreciated. Will post same question on rennlist too.

That might be me.



The roof rack is a Porsche factory unit for 944/968's with a little jig I assembled to center and locate 4 wheels/tires. It's kind of home made looking when naked, but it is quite effective and allows me to secure the wheels with a ratchet-type tow strap.

beware - there is a very real weight limit to what that rack can carry - per the manual, 165lbs is it - 4 tires and wheels can easily exceed that - i know i've seen people do it, but a good bump in the road, or a good stiff wind, and you could easily dent the roof

The what are the alternatives? I have seen some people put trailer hitch / trailer their track gear to the track. Is there a decent (ie. not expensive) hitch set up for a 944 / 968? Prefer something that his hidden...
