Roll Bar
#1

Hi Guys,

I would like to drive my Cab in a SCCA event and I need a roll bar, Does anybody have one they would like to sell?

Also does anybody know if they can just be bolted up without any modifications?

Thank you

I just bolted in the last "chassis brace" that Flash intends to sell (at least at this time) from Design1Racing on Sunday. It is a beautiful unit that I believe will meet the PCA requirements for a "roll bar" for DE events. He can't call them "roll bars" for legal reasons. Unless you can convince him to make more (doubtful) your best bet is to see if anyone on this Forum has one to sell. His website is Design1Racing.com.

I would love to see the D1R legacy live on at another vendor; if Flash were interested in selling.

I have ties to Rennline so I'm partial to them, unfortunately I doubt they would want to buy a line of 968 products since they are so 911 oriented.

Maybe a 924/944 shop like ideola's garage would buy the line. http://garage.ideola.com/

I know I have been lusting after the D1R products since their introduction, just never got around to buying anything.

Certainly regretting it now.

How long did it take you to install it?

I first tried installing it but couldn't get the bolts to line up. I e-mailed Flash and he called me and gave me the correct sequence for the bolts (3 on each side). Once I knew the trick it took me less than an hour by myself, and it looks awesome. I've only been able to drive it once and the car seemed considerably more rigid. I can't wait to get it on a long, twisty drive.

Actually I need to provide a little clarification for my short install time. Shortly after I bought the car I installed a rear seat out of a 944 cab so my daughters could ride in back occasionally. I therefore didn't need to remove the storage box to install the "chassis brace", nor modify the box to reinstall it after installing the brace.

I've got a Redline bolt-in. Go to  http://redlinerennsport.homestead.com/safeguardpage.html to check them out. Also, may be used ones available.   ... John

if it is the redline unit that bolts to the seat belt bolts and has no long rearward legs, it is NOT in any way shape or form a roll bar.  it will not pass any roll bar inspection.  it will NOT survive a rollover or provide any protection.  in fact, it make take off your head.  the downward legs will punch straight through the floor, and the unit will be floating around in there.  that unit is a harness bar only.  also, it is only for hardtops.
