Fenders and Doors and Hood Oh My!
#21

Jim,

Hard to say at the moment...All I'm signed up for are DE events at the moment.

If I go to racing, with all the changes we've made, I'm told that I'd be placed in GT-1R...truly the big dawgs!

But, as many people say, you find a group to run with...and you have your fun. I'm not experienced at all in a racing situation, and it's a different venue completely. Actually, many folk I've spoken to say it's really a lot of fun!

I've been told not to expect to be on the correct line much of the time, because somebody else will most likely be there before you. So, learning to adapt is a large part of it. That sounds OK and fun, and tough and exciting.

But to answer your question in fewer words...I'm not sure yet. But, I'm putting in all the safety things that will allow me to race, should I decide to. We just bought a HANS device that, both my wife and I, can wear at DE's.

Thanks, Jason. I was wondering, because I've only been to one DE and I was somewhat surprised at the extent of preparation that some people have made for DE cars. Before that, I had (naively) thought that DE was for cars like mine - basically street vehicles - and that going beyond that meant racing. Apparently not. I guess "legal speeding" is enough of a kick to make the effort - and expenditure - worthwhile.

[quote name='Graham' date='Mar 14 2005, 06:44 PM']Jason,

Are you keeping the heater?

I was thinking about dumping it and fitting a heated front screen.

Anybody use one of these?

Bjorn,

Did you get rid of the heater?

What are you using to keep the front windscreen/shield clear when it steams up?

I don't really want to keep the heater

Yepp! I have no heater but the original fan is still there!! The problem is not defrosting, the biggest problem is heat when driving. The fan is blowing warm air from the engineroom I have to make some changes so I can deal whith the heat, dont like 50-60C in the cockpit

I can't open my sidewindow so I thinking of a slidewindow there
