Replacing Ignition Swith Soon, Any Advice?
#1

My ignition switch is on the way out. Sometimes my windows won't work, but a quick jiggle of the key causes something to connect and all of a sudden things start to work again.

I am going to assume that the switch is the culprit, since the evidence seems to indicate that. The key functions fine, so I think it's just the switch part of the unit.

Any advice? Should I spray some cleaner in there, and if so, where exactly should I spray it?

You could try some Tuner cleaner, that works on electrical components.

Hi, I did the same job of replacing the ignition switch modual. Remove the instrument cluster so you can see what you are doing unless you are into yoga. I found it easier to remove the steering wheel and then the gage cluster to reach the rear of the ignition switch or remove the seat. I'm in my 70's so I don't bend around as easy as I used to do. The switch is held on with two screws. The one next to the steering column is a PITA to get out. I used an inspection mirror to see if the screws were common or X point. I bought a short stubby screwdriver and broke off the handle and a small long nose visegrip pylyers. You have to mess around with the screw next to the steering column, but I was able to get it out. The other screw was no problem. Just be happy you don't have to change out the key unit. You have to pull the dash out far enough to drill out the broke off torque shear bolts on either side of the steering column. Normal bolts and lock nuts are put in their place. You now have the benifit of days of shear frustration on my part.

Cheers,
Larry

Looks like I'm in the same boat. Mine is getting too finicky as well. How long did it take to replace and where did you purchase it from?

I want to see someone swap the headlight switch and the ignition switch, that would be cool
