I have family members who reside in Carmel so I have a place to stay and will attend at least 2 days. If you want to go for more than one day finding lodging may be a problem in Monterey.

Went there once many years ago  ( it was great !! )  but close-by lodging was extremely difficult to find  and also expensive ( they typically double or triple their usual rate ),  we found a hotel about a 45 minutes drive from the site , and that was with ( IIRC ) with a two months advance non-refundable reservation.

But who knows, things change all the time,  you may get lucky.
