Rebuilding calipers
#1

Anyone here rebuild the front calipers(non sport)? I'm going to tackle this job next. Who has the best price for the rebuild kit? I also noticed that the kits come with pistons unlike my 911. Thanks!

I was going to rebuild my front calipers - purchased everything needed from Sunset. Then I read about what could be involved in getting the screws out from the spring plates and decided to have someone else do the work. I sent everything to John at Goldline Brakes and, in addition to rebuilding them, he polymer-coated them silver. Beautiful result.

It's is very simple and straight forward.

Compressed air will help to get pistons out.

Be very carfull not nick the pistons or bores.

Clean everything thoroughly. Do this in a clean place.

Use brake fresh brake fluid to lube the pistons and seals.

Now to find some good pricing on the kits. Anyone notice that Advance Auto sells front calipers (Cardone brand) for $60 each plus $40 core. Seems like a cheap alternative! Something to think about.

Just curious to know how much Goldline charged for the rebuild & refinish of all four calipers? Thanks, Janke

I heard they were around $300 per caliper to rebuild. BTW, just ordered the rebuild kits from Jason at Paragon.
