Real Big HP
#1

I've finally approached 300 RWHP with N/A motor. We've been real busy testing and Tuning on DynoJet 248.

As most people have seen, a 968 puts out right at 200 RWHP on Dynojet. I now have hit the 292RWHP and 264RWTQ on same. That equates to approx 330 Engine HP at 6500RPM. Pretty stinking amazing. That's close to 30 more than SC kit makes!!! It is also 15HP more than factory turbo made.

Now this is a "Pure Racing Motor" and is quite a beast. Sounds like a fuel dragster at idle. Actually doesn't idle very well. It would be happier at 1500rpm or so but Motronic doesn't like that.

We plan to back on Dyno soon to fine tune a few things. I hope to post a Video. It doesn't sound like any 968 in the world.

Sounds like a very monstrous four banger. Cant wait to see more of it.

Sounds pretty badass Pete. What kind of ballpark price are we talking here? Can I drive something like this across the country?

6500rpm is a pretty low power peak for a high output N/A. What is the power band like and what does it rev to?

I talked to Pete last week and he has wrung out even more than when this was first posted. The engine power is beginning to enter "theoretical" limits, but the proof is on the dyno.

I will encourage him to update this post.

I hope to be driving by GT3's...

What is so curious about power is it mimicks stock HP and TQ curves. This is with a stock intake that has a few mods. I have a very special intake that will take motor to 7500 and make a bunch more HP but I'm not sure where TQ will end up. Not sure if 20 more HP is worth -20FT/LBs torque. For now I'll drive and see what it feels like? I may need to widen the powerband if I have traction problems.

I'll post Dyno sheets tomorrow if I can. I don't think this site can process Video with sound without UTube link. I'll work on that.

Ben,

I'm testing some of the new stuff on a car with only Header to see if we have gains at the lower range of the power spectrum. Going to dyno Friday

I still have hopes to add a dime to your car.

Pete,

well done, when you consider that a 3.8 litre 911 GT3 puts out around 430hp - on a cubic capacity to cubic capacity comparison basis, this has to be close to kicking butt. This is without titanium con-rods, and a very high redline (8,500 rpm).

With the weight stripped out of the car - it should nearly have the power to weight of a 996 Cup car.

Interesting to see what the throttle response is like under load and whether or not some form of additional throttle area would hel pit breathe better.

Still - muchos cudos for having a red hot go. You would have to say that there are also some big cahjones involved as well.

Pete ,

The snow has melted enough to get the trailer out again - when should I bring it down?

Skip work tomorrow and meet you at the dyno this Friday???

Ben,

We fixed software problem today and feel very confident on new tuning package. Should have broader powerband and cooler running. Testing other stuff tomorrow.

You're up next!!!

Craig,

I've played quite a bit with Throttle bodies. I don't want to release too much information.

Every time you find a good solution that opens up door for more ideas and testing...

I will leave it to Pete to disclose how much he wants out there publically. But he had my car for testing over the last 3 weeks and without any doubt my 968 has gone from Sports GT to "Weapon". Pete/Max....you guys ROCK!

Regards,

Jay
