rattle in seat
#1

Is is possible (not for experts, just me) to take apart the passenger's seat to find a rattle? It seems as though something that is part of the seat tipping lever assembly is loose and the seat rattles over bumps when there is nobody sitting in it (almost always). Drives me nuts (near there anyway). Taking out the amp under the seat helped but was not enough.

Here's a resurrection of an ancient post for you <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I've noticed that one of the rattles I attributed to my cab top is actually the seat back of the passenger seat rattling back and forth when the car hits a "road feature" on one side, or similar to hitting a speed bump at an angle. The car naturally "racks", or flexes from one front corner to the rear opposing corner, and the passenger-side seat back is tossed back and forth and makes a very loud series of clunks or rattles, which originate in the seat's hinge and pins if I'm not mistaken. I remember this occurring in my 944S, too.

Is there a fix besides installing a permanent passenger?

Yup, reach over and grab the top of the seat and push and pull it back and forth rapidly (side to side), and you'll hear that old familiar clunk.

UPDATE: I went at the seat today to find the specific source of that rattle, and the hinge and pin were not too bad. They do make some noise, but the majority of the problem was down below the seat, in the rail assembly. Unbeknownst to me, the seat was not "clicked" into place on both rails, specifically the outside rail was disengaged, and moving the seat slightly forward engaged it with a "click" and a great deal of the noise went away. At least, the noise generated by me grabbing the seat back at the top and pushing vigorously side-to-side largely went away. I haven't had a chance to drive it without someone in that seat to tell if it made a big difference going over bumps.
