The symptom was that the Heating/Cooling fuse (7.5A) would blow as soon as the A/C button was pushed on. I had the magnetic clutch off, but it bench tested just fine. There was no short and actually the resistance was at spec. So I'd put it back on. It's not fun driving in hot and humid Atlanta without A/C.
I continued to be suspicious of the clutch and finally decided to throw money at it. DaveN had a new clutch that he offered me. The part number was one digit different than what the PET called for, but I took the risk.
I got the new clutch in (it fit just fine) and drove the car this morning. The A/C works, it's nice and cold, and the fuse doesn't blow. I hope now I can check this one off as FIXED.

Gotta love it when you throw a fix at something and it's actually fixed.

LOL Temps around the DC area are now averaging 75 degrees. Who needs AC with weather like this?

Sure glad it all went well and fixed the problem. My guilt factor would have gone up if it had made no difference!
Opps, I was on the Lollipop forum at the same time <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.png" class="smilie" alt="" /> Now there's an obscure reference.
