Exhaust gasket removal - Lear35A - 06-07-2017

I had to pull my exhaust headers to repair a leak.  I can't figure out how to get the 4 "O" shaped metal exhaust gaskets out of the head. They get crushed into place when the headers are torqued on, and there is not much access. If anyone can pass on a trick or technique to pop these out, I would be very appreciative.

Those are a PITA, no question about it. I have a small stylus with a 90 degree bend at the end that looks almost like a dental pick that works for getting those out. You can get a set of them at your local Harbor Freight for a few bucks. That's the only tool I have found that has the angle and the thinness to get between the header and the crush washer. Once a space opens up, a thin screwdriver can do the rest.

Good luck!
