Porsche Parade
#1

I have signed up for the Parade in Savannah in Aug. The couple that we were going with (951) decided not to go. My only problem is the drive. It is pretty boring driving I-95. Just took a trip to Charleston SC in the Audi and it was a LONG trip even with wife driving. Going to Savannah will be a trial as wife does not drive the 968. Probably will do a break and make it a 2 day trip.

We typically attend Parade every year, but the 3400mi round trip, and the prospect of Savannah's heat and humidity in August has scared us off this year.

Good choice Chris! My home is in Atlanta, Georgia and I left as soon as I got out of high school, heat and humidity are brutal in August. The PCA Escape in Flagstaff, Arizona later this year will be a lot more comfortable. See you there, Bob Blackwell (944 V-8)

I'll be there and I know there will be a number of other 968ers in attendance. I'm doing a presentation on North American 968 coupe production on Monday night. BTW, I'm driving down.

PCA 968 Register – Top 10 reasons to attend the Parade

So, are you “on the fence” about going to the 2011 Porsche Parade? Well, below are my “top 10 reasons” why you should go!

10) July is the warmer month in Savannah and we’ll have that month behind us.

9) Did you know your 968 is rated at 26mpg on the highway and most owners report better mileage then that? Imagine if you were driving a 1969 Dodge Hemi Charger to a show that gets about 10mpg on the highway with a tailwind! Don’t let the price of gas stop you.

8) 968s are coming from the North, South, and West!!!

7) Savannah is supposed to be a beautiful city. General Sherman spared it 150 years ago. You should go see it for yourself.

6) Doesn’t that “Low Country Boil” meal sound great???!!! Shrimp, Sausage, Potatoes, Yum.

5) We’re working on a 968 driving tour, scripted by Savannah native Joel Carter.

4) After hearing the North American 968 production presentation on Monday you don’t have to worry anymore about waking up at night and wondering how rare your M030 coupe is, you’ll know the answer!

3) You know how the only other 968 you see is that one from a few towns over and you only see it a few times a year. Well, you’ll see many of them in Savannah!

2) There’ll be some other neat Porsches at the event as well.

And number 1… Hanging out with the other 968ers will be a blast!

If you are going to join us for dinner on Monday 8/1 I need you to let me know and your check by Saturday, July 23rd. ($27.50 per adult, contact me for kid’s prices)

Happy Fourth of July!

I am going for the entire event. I will be working the Bridgestone display. Everyone, please stop by & say hello. I will most likely be speaking in the tire panel discussion as well. I should be able to get to the 968 seminar.

Okay, so you can't go to the Porsche Parade because you have to attend Johnny Jr.'s little league baseball game that weekend. Hey, I totally understand. I'm a family guy first as well. But, all is not lost for you 968-wise. You are still welcome to join us for any of our three 968 events.

1) Our dinner at Tubby's on Monday 8/1 ($27.50 per person).

2) The first North Amercian 968 coupe production presentation (free, at Tubby's).

3) 968 driving event through Savannah on Tuesday morning .

PM me if you are interested in any of the above.

Less then 2 weeks until the parade, dinner registrations needed by Saturday (7/23). We have a good group of 968s coming to the event. Send me a PM or email to get in on the fun.

Well, we are down to just a few days until the Parade. It is going to be quite an event with a good collection of 968s including a few surprise guests. Dinner is set for Monday night followed by the presentation on North American 968 coupe production (how many M030s did they produce for NA?) and the 968 drive on Tuesday morning to the Ford plantation. I'll post some photos when I get back.

Jeff,

I wish I could attend with one of my Race cars. just can't happen this year.

Thanks to you and Joel for attracting the bees (968"s) and hosting some really cool events.

Getting ready to haul A$$ to Savannah. Making it a 1 pit stop drive, 1st stop Lumberton, NC tomorrow and then Savannah. Had the car thoroughly checked out. Needed a new altenator and battery, all the hose, belts, cooling system and A/C checked, "fortunately" had the altenator belt break last Sunday coming back from a drive in the VA countryside. Hope the heat comes down a little as it is still taxing on the cooling system with the A/C on. A presto tutti.
