Porsche Loyalist
#1

I have owned a Porsche for the majority of my life. 1969 S Targa for a bunch of years. My current trusty steed since 2001 is a 1994 RS America.

My wife has always liked convertibles, and we have never gotten her a sports car convertible. She has been stuck with a Miata forever, and she has loved it. However, it is getting old so we are shopping for an upgrade.

We have kids so back seats are VERY convenient. The 911 RS seats (yes, '94s have them) are the same as any other 964 Carrera -- small. We may be willing to live with tiny back seats, but a two-seater is really pushing the envelope on impracticality.

So with that long intro, I say "hello" to the group. 968 Convertibles have always looked good to me. They have a very modern style to my eye. I am just learning about them, but I am impressed. Perhaps we will join you in the disease one day soon.

Welcome to the 968 affliction. We just arrived home from an overnight stay at a downtown hotel for a charity auction. My 17 year old son arrived at the hotel to help disassemble the tables, chairs etc and he decided to ride home with us. So there we are, cruising down the expressway in our 968 with me, my wife and a lanky teenager in the back seat plus our overnight luggage easily stored in the hatch along with a couple of auction items. I couldn't help but marvel over the versatility of the 968. My Carrera was great, but I don't think we could have pulled this off as easily in that ride!

9XI, and in case you didn't know, 968 US cabs can easily be converted to have rear seats with lap belts (the seat belt nuts are right in the floor from the factory) just like their euro and canadian counterparts.

welcome. The miata is a great little car. A few here have had them and some still own them.

Outside of finding the 68 roomier and more powerful, I think you'll be surprised at how easy it is to throw into corners. Not as nimble as a miata but balanced much better then the 911s.

As Jeff notes, the 968 cab is a 2-seater. You can think of it as a bigger, faster, better looking, better sounding, better handling, less reliable Miata with a parcel shelf.

If you ever happen to need someone to drive that 964 around for you I could make a slight detour from PA to CA... <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/clap.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Welcome,

Jay
