Having installed the D1R Strut Tower Brace this weekend, I have temporarily become very cognizant of my hood. (This post has nothing to do with the brace, just to be clear).
Installing the brace involves putting parts very close to where the hood comes down, so naturally you have to be extremely careful about not dropping the hood and punching a new dimple into it. My clearance is good.
I was showing a friend my shiny new object this morning, and I happened to be looking along the plane of the hood as it opened and closed, with the sky as a backdrop (instead of the interior lights in my garage).
I noticed the slightest of creases in my hood, running all the way across, exactly where the rubber bumpers are positioned on the fenders, leading me to believe that over the course of 20 years, the hood has taken a set by being sprung down over those bumpers. The crease is a good six inches behind where the D1R brace is located.
Has anyone else noticed this?
