Pinstripes
#1

Has anyone seen pinstripes like these on a 968 (or 944, etc). I've looked at all the 968 pictures I could find on the net, but non of the cars had them. They run along the side from the headlights to the tail lights, and I think they really add to the look of the car. So I'm wondering if this is a factory option, or an after market touchup. If I ever get the car repainted, pinstripes will be included <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Also, I'm debating whether to get coloured porsche emblem caps for the wheels or not.

I have them ( courtesy of previous owner - not sure it was also a factory option, but these are after market ) Very thin, very close together, in grey which matches the interior color of my car. I love them. I think it underscores the superb curvature of the body, it elongates the car somehow and seeing it

side by with another 968 iris blue which did not have stripes only reinforced my preference for the car with them..

That having been said, I know I run against the grain here.. most prefer to leave the car naked. Also, not sure about applying a dark stripe on a white car - that could stand out way too much IMO. Even if it does match a black interior <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Try the stripes in Photoshop first. You can see it before you go for it. Many of the forum members have posted altered pics when deciding about wheels, badge removal, grill treatments, side decals and many other ideas.

My cab is white with black pin stripes (two very thin stripes on each side). They were done by either the factory or dealer. The PO is an old friend of mine and he definately did not add them--they came on the car when he bought it new. This car also has a really odd factory code I have never been able to find info about (13861) which might have something to do with this. In addition, my car's rims have the same color combo as Ren's but on 16 inch wheels (white with silver lips and white center caps) and my car also has white bead trim on black seats.

I know of two other cabs with pin stripes one is another white car with blue pin stripes (6spcab) and a silver cab w/black stripes (RoxyLaura's-she has a gallery here). No clue if either of these car's pin stripe are aftermarket or factory though?

I can post some pics tomorrow if interested.

Yeah, pictures would be great, I'm curious what they look like on other cars <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I checked out my option code finally, they're all pretty standard other than 09991 "manufacture from the exclusive-programme". Is that something special? I've searched google, but there is no mention as to what that is / was.

This pic I took for my insurance agent shows the pin stripe pretty well but certainly is no glamour shot <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I wonder if these are infact factory options, cause the same pinstripes on different cars from different dealers?
