We will all miss Phil. He has been an inspiration for me my whole life. What an incredible driver, gentleman, and ambassador to the sport of auto racing. He will be missed....

I love the slippery slope of automotive excess...if only it did not take up so much time and resources (money, cut fingers, gashed knuckle....)
The basic human condition is one of stupidity....

I too will miss him. I have had the pleasure of chatting with him at the Monterey Historics about cars that he once raced and that were subsequently on display in Monterey. He came up to Monterey for the Historics two weeks ago, but never made it to the venue, instead he entered the hospital, sadly for the last time.
My interest in sports cars began in the late 50's and progressed all through the 60's. To me it was the Golden Age of Sports Car racing and Phil was certainly one of the stars. His passing prompted me to pull out my collection of racing photos from the 1960's to see if I might have captured him on film, unfortunately I may not have, still looking.
