Perma Plate wax -
#1

Many dealers charge $ 500 for an application of this polymer ( Perma Plate ). The body shop I use claims their wholesale cost for a 12 oz. bottle is $ 100 and they get about 6 applications from that. They charge $ 100 per application ( P&L) and

maintain that you will not need to wax your car for at least 3 to 5 years. The dealers supposedly guarantee this never-wax-again application for the life of the car ( whatever that guarantee may cover and exclude remains to be investigated )

Being the skeptic that I am, I see this product as may be par with Rejex at a ridiculously higher cost. Or, I could be way wrong and maybe this is the holy grail

of finish applications.

Do you guys have any experience with the product ?

I "Googled" the subject and you get various opinions at each end of the spectrum, but most tend to lean toward the belief this is indeed a high grade wax, but not much more...

For the average american car that doesn't ever get waxed and is just a thin coat of acrylic, fine.

But for Porsche's, nope, nada, no way...

Well being a professional part time skeptic, I call BS. Pure bold-face-marketing-elitest-overpriced-take-advantage-of-the-stupid-but-rich snake oil.

Think about the chemistry for a moment. What do you think is more durable? A sprayed on urethane clearcoat that has be catalyzed with a hardener, or something that is wiped on and wiped off with a soft cloth. A gallon of the high tech urethane paint is about $100.

Get some Eagle Nano wax, Meguires NXT or Mothers Reflections and you have the same thing as Perma Plate. Bastards. [Image: twak.gif]

Hey wanna buy some diet pills? Only $153 a bottle.

New Dawn wash, clay bar, another wash and 3 applications of Zaino over a week.... and this is what you get = reflections galore.

Yeah, notice that every diet pill bottle says that TOGETHER with a sensible eating plan and execrcise routine you can lose weight if you take their pills ? Gee, if you were eating sensibly and exercised consistently, you would not need any diet pills !! Oops, got O.T. a bit.

Back on topic.. I've been very happy with the results of what I have used so far, ( Meguier's NXT with Rejex over it, every four months, and clay bar prep once a year ) but technology improves from one year to the next so always searching for the REAL new and improved product out there..

Dave, funny you mention those particular products: I use Eagle One nano-wax with a coat of Rejex over it for our SUV, Mothers' Reflections with a coat of Rejex on the MBZ, and as mentioned above on the 968. Brilliant results that last at least 4 months for all of them.

I have used Zymol, Klasse and Zaino.. and do not think either one matches NXT. Yes, not even Zaino.. but I recognize this is all subjective, so one man's lustre may be another man's dullness..

I actually think Mother's Gold Class paste produces the most brilliant shine, but I

rarely get 2 months out of it..
