Since I have had the tiptronic I never bothered to measure the glove compartment box to see if it's just my imagination or if it is really smaller than the one in my six speed. It certainly looks smaller at least height-wise, and maybe even length, but as I said I could be simply imagining things.. Furthermore, even the door pockets on the tip seem narrower, although that could be a factor of the six speed's PO having stored a bunch of things in there which enlarged / extended the pockets enough for them to stay slightly roomier..

I'm going to measure the damn things today just to satisfy my curiosity and will report the results here . Hey, these cars were " hand made " so I would not be entirely shocked if there are differences of 1/8" or 1/2" or more on non-engine components ..

no, the box under the dash .  measured it this morning - it's about 1/2 " shorter ( height ) than the one in the six speed, and it seems to be mounted well, flush with all the outer edges, etc so it's possible it may be collapsed or pressed somehow.   the side pockets are also about 1/8" narrower, but I suspect the reason i mentioned earlier is probably the cause for that..
